Default Bad Day

Got a call this afternoon that a house I own was on fire - the house was my grandfathers and no one had lived there in over 3 years - there was no power to the house - there was no storms so I knew something was smelling fishy - when I arrived the house was completely destroyed - a 16 year old boy set the house on fire - in his words "I am intrigued by fire and like to watch things burn" this kid even calld the fire department I was pretty upset when I arrived but thank God no one was hurt - the young feller went to jail but was released to his father - I will be headed to court to see this thing out and I wanted to choke the kid at the time but I told the detective and the fire marshall this kid needs help - so I am willing to see him go to a mentl hospital rather than jail if he stays under a Doctors care - if he does not stay with the treatment then he needs to go to jail - man I am still pissed though

It's ashame. I'm sorry you lost a house, particularly one that had to hold sentimental memories.
I hope that kid gets some help too, but optimism isn't my forte' with the legal system and kids. They know it too...... 2 years of probation and (shrug shoulders) it's history. I hope not, maybe this will be the saving of someone's life by getting him help now.
Take care.

Sorry to hear that. Sorry for you and your loss mainly. I agree with you if the kid is bona fide got a problem but I am leary because with the fine line drawn between abuse and discipline there are kids out there may really have a prob but got that way because it is no longer acceptable for his elders to take him out behind the barn and put it to him in a way that will do some good -when its still at the burning wood or lighting up the chicken coop stage. Regardless, I am sorry to hear it. Hope all works out.

He would be in double trouble here. volation of burn ban is getting serious. Seems like the whole world is burning up , from Ok. to south Tx. Not a good place for a fire bug to live now.
