I have an old digital camera, HP 215, that I inherited from my daughter when we got her a new one for Christmas. I wanted it mostly to take pictures of fishing trips & post them the same day instead of waiting to take up a whole roll of film & have it developed. I put 4 new Duracell AA batteries in it twice. I can take one or two pictures & upload them to the computer then it says the batteries are too weak to take another picture. My ? is will the lithium batteries made especially for cameras last longer. Long enough to justify the expense, $8-$9 for 4? Or would it be better to buy rechargable batteries & charger?

Hawkman, I use Lithium batteries in my camera and they last a good long time. I have had to put some Duracel's in them but, they lasted for several days and took a lot of pictures. I wonder if you had some bad batteries. Or maybe some going wrong with your camera.
I would not recommend rechargable batteries. I believe my camera instructions said not too. Good luck.
Thanks fishinpox & whizkids, glad I didn't go with the rechargables, the website whizkids provided said the same thing. According to that it looks like the lithium will be the best for me. The Duracells were a new pack with an exp. date of 2011 but it was cold the day I was using them. That might have had something to do with it. I'll try the lithium.

You get 4 NI-MH batteries and charger for 10 bucks and they seem to hold up pretty good.

Hey hawkman, those earlier cameras were Battery eaters.I would try the Liths. Man these new cams have really gotten efficient.
I don't know the differece in the batteries but my new Kodak came with re chargeable Li-ion batteries and they are doing real well....

I work for Kodak but with chemicals not cameras. But.... to me you should be able to get more than a couple of picturs in before the batteries die. The fact that the camera got really cold could have something to do with it. Did you try it inside? Are you saving the images with the camera's internal memory or are you using a memeory card? Using a memory card will increase battery life. Also another thing that drains the battery is reviewing your photos with the camera.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

The HP website says DO NOT use rechargable batteries in this model camera. Guess I'll try the lithium 'til I can get a newer model. I did check the batteries after I took them out of the camera. Showed almost a full charge, just not enough to operate the camera I guess. Thanks everyone.
