I have one for work and one for fishing. I've had them on when I worked in Chicago when it was way below zero and stayed warm. Face got a little chapped from the wind blowing. They are waterproof, goretex thin-insulated, elastic bands where your feet and hands come out and very lightweigth. Something like these would keep you plenty warm where you live. You won't find this kind of walls in a wally world store. I bought these from an outfitter type store in Louisville some years back and they still fit good. I'll see if I can find a link later today after work.

I have a pair of the insulated overshoes, the kind made icanvas. They go on over your boots or shoesand zip up. they are made for deer hunters sitting in tree stands. They are not made for walking in. If my feet get cold, i'm cold all over.

Don't think I'm crazy, but if you are sitting for long periods of time, loosen your boot strings so that you can move your feet insied the boots. this allows better circulation, and puts a layer of air between your feet and the boot. that air warms with your body heat and your feet will stay warmer. I'm like you Bait Runner. I'm done when my feet get cold.

A lot of guys I see even here in TX use small propane heaters. I'm cheap and already have a lantern so I'll take the lantern and hold the tank between my feet and lay a towell across my lap. Then put your hands under the towell when they get cold. Be careful not to touch the top of the lantern.

lastly, keep your back to the wind if there's any. You'll get colder faster if the wind is in your face. Have fun...Good Luck

Only time I've fished this winter when it was really cold, the tournament
with David and the boys - had a fleece jogging suit on as one of the innermost layers, and it had pockets in the front - I put one of those
chemical packs from wally world in each pocket at the boat ramp, and
those things 'bout burned a hole in my belly... Ran 25+mph down the lake,
(tiller boat, no console) and even with the fog freezing in my beard,
I was squirming around like a cat on hot tin roof belly was so hot, the
breeze felt GOOD! And I agree with Smedley, loose boots - I always buy
cold weather boots a size bigger and wider than normal, and don't lace tight.

To help with your feet if you have insulated (Thinsulate, etc..) boots with plenty of room try putting a single thickness sheet of newspaper or 2 around your foot over the socks and then put in your boots. This always has worked for me plus the newspaper wicks any moisture away from your feet.
Then there's always the Gentleman Jack Therapy someone mentioned. It probably works except I am allergic to Jack and all his cousins too. All I ever got was cold & drunk. Dang the luck, it was downright fun at one time.

A trick to help keep your toes warm is to spray them with anti-perspirant. The slightest bit of moisture makes them cold. Learn that one when I was younger and used to snow ski alot.

Keeps them piggies smellin fresh as a spring rain too, right D-M. (just kidding)Never heard of that one, hafta try it. The only way i've been able to keep my tootsies warm (while sitting in a deer stand) is with a pair of 5 buckle rubber boots over my hunting boots. Cheap rain gear helps keep in the body heat and the wind out, but if your moving alot you'll work up a sweat and really get cold...izzy PS C-K no luck on the Power Ball wed. night your on your own hehe...izzy

You are getting all good advice here.Just like everyone has said basically good boots and socks and gloves.I like those glove inserts that you can get at the army surplus stores.I think they are wool even when wet they still work good. Also a good ski mask, keep your head and feet warm you can keep the rest warm.
