If you own one you might want to go to this site. It may save you some
grief. Late 90s in particular.

Thanks
I appreciate the post!! I've a '97 Ford F-150 6 cyl that started blowing white smoke last week and started knocking at 109000 miles. I don't have the $4000 for a new motor, so I'll drive the d#$* thing til it blows up and then I'll have to borrow from my 401K and buy something else. They'll probably own up to the problem after I get another one and give everyone that owned one $150. This major SUCKS!! Always have driven Fords, but gonna look elsewhere now!!

I've owned one Ford, never own another, I've owned one Chevy, never own another. I'm going Toyota next time. I bet GM as not figured out why they are having to lay off 30k people.

Yeah Mo, I hope it ain't but thats one of the symptoms. White scum on the bottomside of oil fill cap another one. I don't know how many posts you read but there is like a moderator that seems to be in the know-he highly suggests logging on to both Ford and NHTSA and filing a complaint form so that if(it sounds like WHEN) there is a class action suit you are included in any settlement. I got a 4 Star longblock that is running me $3K drive-out unless they run into any parts need replacing-belt/hoses, etc. 3 yr 75000
warrantee. I had a clutch job last spring and the truck is in great condition inside out so my thinking was I can't take my broke truck and 3 grand and come away with a comparable vehicle any other way. On the last year of payments on 2nd truck and not going there so soon again. Of course if this
new engine is a lemon I may wish I'd bought a moped.(With a sidecar for my anvil)

Toyota was the overwhelming pick that PO'd Ford owners were going next.

uh huh....
I did a lot of shopping before I purchased me Tacoma. Went to all web sites. Tacoma and Tundra won hands down, even in the consumer reports guide. Nissan and Dodge Dakota were bad picks. It will be interesting to see how the new Honda truck fares. Tacoma made in America, so I am not too bruised by the name or the name calling...Good truck so far...Time will tell...............

If you change a Toyota oil at 3000 religously, you may never wear it out. My 90 is at neer 300000 and burns no oil or any noise. It is getting ugly, but till it dies........If you want full size, go Ford. If you want compact, Toyota is the best bang for the buck.
