Iran "The cause of a 3rd world war"

looks like Iran is pushing the limit. I am wondering how far this will go. I dont think they will curve their ambitions and what they are doing even with sanctions imposed upon them. They are determined to build a nuclear bomb and it seems they will stop at nothing, even though they claim they are only wanting to enrich uranium for peaceful means of electricity. Why would a coutry with as much oil reserves be so determined to inrich uranium with all the pressures from other countries for them not too. Russia has agreed to inrich it for them. They wont or have yet to agree to it. Guilty if you ask me. What are our options? We could strike those targets with precision and take them out with minimal other damage, Some analysts have said that while an American military strike could destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, it would anger U.S. allies, intensify the Muslim world's bitterness toward the United States, drive up oil prices and rally Iranians behind their president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. We really dont want that. If they keep on, Isreal is gonna strike them, and from all that I hear and read, nobody likes Isreal and if they strike Iran, it is gonna cause a major uprising. If we impose sanctions, Iran has said they will even further their enrichment and will cut off oil supplies except enough to keep them going. They say this will hurt the other countries more than Iran because they are the second leading oil exporting country. Fears of the oil cutoff has kept China and Russia from already agreeing to bring them before the security council. If we sit around and wait it will be too late, if we act, it might be devastating anyway. Where do we go from here? What are your opinions and please no bashing of anyones opinions. I just wanna know what everyone thinks will take place or happen. Could this even lead to another world war or is everyone smart enough to limit their actions?

I grew up believing that I wouldn't live to see forty because of the nukes aimed at us. Lately, I've wondered why I didn't save enough for retirement .Starting to look like my first impression was closer to the truth, even if I am way past forty.

We can't be the world's policeman. We don't have the resources or the manpower and frankly, the longer the goverment ignores uor needs, the more likely there will be an upheaval ofsome sort here. Since Europe is the place that will be impacted the most by an Irani-Isreali war, let them make the first move. - Roberta

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has publically has called for the destuction of Israel. It could be possible that Iran wants enriched uranium for peaceful means, but I doubt it. There was an assasination attempt on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's life recently. Whomever, attacked his motorcade and only killed some body guards. I guess they shot up the wrong vehecle. I think there is a slim chance for peace by his death or China stepping in. If China looses their oil supply it will cripple their economy as well. China is looking everywhere for oil and are having some success. The Iranian people do not care too much for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Most of the Iranian people like western ways. Especially the women.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is very radical. Do a search on him and read about the religious sect he belongs too. He thinks he can bring about the coming of his Messiah..so to speak.. to rule the earth for 7 years or their religious sect... He is the new Hitler. One thing for sure, Israel will wipe most of those mid-east countries off the map if we let them. Someone is going to back that little ole country to the sea and they will nuke them. I think Israel has about 40 nukes, I may be wrong on how many though.

Isn't it strange the hatred of Israel was spoken of thousands of years ago.

Iran must destroy America first,to be able to than destroy Isreal.(their main objective).Luckly for them, the world is not really paying attention.The pres of Iran( who was a advisor to the students during the Iran Hostage Crisis) has let too much slip out about their future plans.I really don,t think he will be around to much longer because of his open admittance of destroying Isreall.You can't destroy Isreal without destroying the USA first. Two democracys are planted on both sides of Iran, Does anyone think that was a accident? I feel that the adminastration is gambling that Iran will collapse from the inside and democracize. If they don'y start digging a bomb shelter.Bush saw this problem coming years ago.Remember the Evil Axis speech?I fear when push comes to shove, the democrats will appease Iran and make em promise to be good. Iran has spoke and said they want to usher in the Mahdi (That is their savior) To do this they have to bring on the Latter Days.Iran is, and will be the problem in the middle east.Mohabbiism is taught in the schools of Iran.It is the branch of Islam which these Insurgents are of. Muslims from all mid east countries can send their children to Iran for religous training in Mohabbism and a lot do.The problem is Iran, but most people are uninformed, and don't care.We will try to get a collition together to confront them, but America has no creditability any longer. After that, we will have to wait till they make enough hi grade Uranium to launch a Major attack .As far as sanctions or anything else...gas prices would go through the roof. Gas wouldl be 5 or 6 bucks a gallon. The world economy will go into a resession. What will happen is Bush will not get a colilision, because the Dem will disagree on Irans intentions.The socialist leaders of old europe and the Dems will appease them. They will keep their nukes and not turn off the pipe. We will be in the crosshairs till they decide to start the countdown.As far as a world war..it started on 911 but most people are still asleep.

mudwitch some of what your saying is what I think will fuel the fire. The United States will defend any attack against Isreal and will defend any retaliation against Isreal if they decide to strike first. As you mentioned, America has lost its credibility, what little it ever had anyway. When we step in against Iran, you know China and Russia will defend their interest there. If the oil supply is stopped, Gas prices as you said will skyrocket, that is one thing I was talking about. China relies too much on Irans oil as do alot of other countries. I dont think they will sit back and let this destroy their economy as it most likely would if it were long term. fishingpox I think your right on the nuke count of Isreal, 40 is what I was remembering also. Maybe things wont get as bad as they appear to be headed, but as of now it doesnt look good.

I get really tired of people making snide remarks about France. France lost an entire generation of men in WWI, which is why they couldn't possibly defend themselves twenty years later. If American schools taught history, maybe people would be aware of that.

Anyway, Jacques Chirac announced last week that France will exercise the nuclear option if a state engages in terrorist activities on French soil. Pundits took it as an implied threat against Iran. There have been a couple of times in recent history that France sent Mirage air strikes into former French colonies. They don't engage in all the blow-hard posturing that we do. They just do it.

The people of the Middle East have been fighting for millenia. Reason went out the window a long time ago. As far my husband is concerned, they can turn the whole region into a beacon and he wouldn't care. - Roberta

Russia just sold a BILLON dolars worth of wepons to Iran.( WE saw how well Russian wepons worked in Irac) Russia also has all the oil it needs. They need hard cash. China needs the oil from Iran to keep up the economy like us. Distroying Iran is to one ones favor. I do believe that Iran was shocked when eruope took a stand on thier wanting nukes. The problem is when push comes to shove the eroupeians turn to jelly. (UK is the exception) We have made a promise to Isreal that we will defend them. (like they need help) If Iran would pull the trigger the world would have no choice but fight back. With us leading the charge. If Iran would shoot one nuke out of the tube I doubt we would use that option. The world saw what we did to Irac and how fast we did it. The best wepon would be to use a nutron bomb. Remember those? A nuke that the radtion disapates after 7 days.(except @ ground zero) I know I know those have been out lawed. It states we can not build them. I am sure we have the parts close @ hand tho.
If the europeans would stick together with us I think this will could be resolved. Russia has also offered to make the sauce for them. If not we are in deep do do. It is all up to Iran how this plays out.
