prepaying for gas

I do not like credit cards and do not keep enough money in the bank to make use of my ATM card to make it worth it, so I get stuck with the inconvenience of prepaying for gas. Here are some problems that aggrevate the shoo shoo out of me. I never know how much my car will hold so I cant fill up. Or if I try and fill up and give them too much money then I have to go back in for my change and this is a bummer when its cold. However the biggest problem I have is this. They want you to pre pay to prevent people from driving off without paying. The pumps are set to go into super slow motion when you get about 75 cents from what you paid for. It takes longer to pump that 75 cents than it did to pump the 19.25 before it. Surely they can set the pumps to slow down at 10 cents til the target. Heck you already made me prepay, its not like I am going to try and go over by a penny or two.

i only go to a gas station that lets me pre-pump, Hess......i could go to a pump closer and i could go to a pump cheaper...but i aint pre-payin, because that's BS

I'd rather pay at the pump because every time you walk inside a c-store, you come out smelling like the grease they fry all that chicken and taters in!

Go to a Murphy USA store. You do not have to prepay.When you go to WalMart to spend your hard earned money, buy a gift card and save three cents a gallon. It is not up to store managers to set the pump to pump slower prior to prepay amount. I'll let you in on something though I had 871.00 dollars in drive off last month because we allow not to prepay. The little store I have pumps about 400 k per month so, I guess its not to bad to lose some still pisses me off for some deadbeat who is working not to pay for their gas.

i understand fishing pox my girlfriend is DM of 7-11 here in WV they have so many drive offs...That comes out of there bonuses also, ive seen her have 4500.00 bonuses and then they drop to 200.00... the prepay thing just keeps honest people honest

It used to tick me off to. Until my granddaughter worked part time at a Jiffy Rip. She had a $65 drive off on her first day. Lucky someone got the tag number. However that is as far as it went. Some states will pull your drivers license..
Things are not like they used to be. That may be the reason over 40 people in my little are now have CCW permits. The druggies break into houses on a regular basis.

I have a check card but dont keep money in the bank for certain reasons, so I might as well get rid of it. I understand the drive offs, but come on, how damn hard can it be for the owner or whomever to set the pump to slow down later? If we can put a man on the moon we can do this. I am talking about whenever I am running low on gas when I am traveling or when I see a good deal on gas at a station i dont normally stop at. I dont run into this on a regular basis but when i do it ticks me off. As my old boss use to say, I got 3 words for you, suck it up.
