Well,...it is finally happening. I will be back in the Lund family before too long.
Have a new A-14 ordered that will have a 15 HP Merc four stroke and Yacht
Club trailer with tongue jack. Boat being/has been purchased from Lake Drive
Marine in Cold Water,MI. The A-14 is just a simple 14 ft. utility-v bottom that
matches the kind of fishing I do. Unlike most of you,I do not use fish finders or trolling motors,...on a boat that size, you don't need a trolling motor,...I prefer to row instead. The old Sea Nymph is being traded for the A-14,and
considering it's age, getting $500.00 to $600.00 trade for it is quite good IMO!
The Sea Nymph is an old 1973 model. Just to let you know,...if I did not feel I could afford to do this,I would not have gone so far as getting the A-14 ordered to begin with.
Congrats on your new boat.I'm sure you will enjoy it.
get d net <*((((((>{ PROUD MEMBER OF TEAM GEEZER
Congrads on the new boat. There is nothing like being the first owner. You get to work out all the problems that will show up and cause you to wonder why you bought a new one instead of letting someone else work out the problems first. Just joking. EB
DO-GOODER EXTRADINAR
Thank you,EB. Had an A-14 before and I wonder why I traded the thing in for a camper that got used only one time in the two years I had it. I will not let this next,...and last,...Lund get away! Why do I say the last Lund? Because
those little A-14s are great little fishing boats worth hanging on to and keeping around,...and they fit my style of fishing, too. Since I fish alone 99%
of the time anyway, this little A-14 is perfect for me,and the types of lakes I
visit the most.
That is a good sized boat and has it's place. Why no trolling motor? I use a trolling motor on a 10' pond prowler. How do you row and fish in a strong/moderate wind. I am not talking about sculling, but actually rowing. Just wondring how you do both?
I remember back when my dad and I fished from his boat we would take turns holding position with the oars if needed. Otherwise we let it drift a bit then rowed some more. I don't recall it as difficult to do. But, soon as we got our first trolling motor- the rowing stopped and was not missed.
I think it would be fun to have a tourney that does not allow using trolling motors, fish finders, or GPS devices.
congradulation on the new boat
Although I have never fished in a tournament setting,I think that would be fun,...if not interesting,...to see happen. Maybe they should have one and
see how the pros do without the aid of these things called GPS,fishfinders, and trolling motors. I do that already, and I don't even fish tournaments. I get along just fine without them. But then again,...maybe later on,I might break down and get a trolling motor. It will just need a power cord long enough to run from the back of the boat to the front where the battery would sit. I'm talking a transom mount unit on the type of boat I have
ordered,...maybe a 30 lb. thrust 12 volt trolling motor. Question is,...where would I find an extended trolling motor power cord?
You can't fish with a hung line!
