I must be out of my mind. Got up at four a.m. and gonna wade into the masses at the local stores starting at five. I have heard horror stories over the years about the frenzy during these sales, so thought I would get out and experience it for the first time. Sure hope I don't turn into one of those crazy shoppers. Hey, get your hands off my fishing pole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rarely go Christmas shopping. I have never been to the big sales either. I do remember, however, when the Beenie Baby craze was going on. I was working night shift then, my wife was working days. She called me to go to a certain shop, they were putting them on sell at 11 o'clock. I got in there and was stampeded by crazed women wanting the little stuffed creatures. We were butting heads bending over getting these things out of a big wicker basket on the floor. One woman snatched one out of my hands. I told my wife to do her own shopping from then on. You are a heck of a man there, J.

BPS has a 5 hour sale this morning that I was going to go to. But I can't drive yet due to surgery and my wife decided she wanted to go down to Rocky Mount, NC this morning to see her mother. Oh well, I'll just wait till next year.

I went to Wally World the day after Thanksgiving last year to get a Snowblower that I wanted that was on sale and only had a few of them. We got there about 4:30 for the 5:00 AM opening and we were about 20th in line. They didn't open the store until 6:00 for some reason. A guy behind us said just watch the people sitting in cars outside the store when the doors open up that the year before when the doors opened up they got out of their cars and rushed to the store and got right in without waiting out in the cold like everyone that was standing in line. The doors opened up and the car doors opened up and a bunch of people run to the store to get in. 3 COP's stepped out and told the people coming from the cars that they had to wait until the line of people got inside and then they could come in. Some got mad and left but most of them stayed until they could get in which took about 1/2 hour for the people to get in. I thought that was really insightful of the store management.
I have done the after Thanksgiving sales before too Fatboy. Hope I never have to go back into that war zone, I think I'd stand a better chance surviving in Iraq right now. They advertise these sales on big items but only end up having a few of them, and the people will litterally knock you down. People camped out for two days for the new x-box. If I'm gonna do any camping, it's gonna be to catch some crappie. I have noticed that some stores do their sales now the day before Thanksgiving. We went shopping then, and although it was crowded, not near the rush. Dont worry Big J, I dont think anybody has ever taken anything away from you, and I dont think they will start now.
Well, Paul got up this morning to get to the sale at BPS with a list of stuff and walked out empty handed. They didn't have but very little of the stuff that was supposed to be on sale. What a rip! It was an 85 mile drive for nothing. I doubt he does that again! Of course, some of us are at work today --
Well, got home a little bit ago. Didn't really get hurt too bad. I only lost an eyeball and my left arm over a t.v. LOL. It wasn't too bad after the intial rush got over with and things calmed down. Our shopping is done except for one thing for Dylan and I can't find it here locally, so I guess I will have to get it off the net. Didn't know five feet tall women could be so damn mean. Good thing I had my wife blocking for me. Anyone else out there suffer any casualties?
I made the mistake of going to BP on Fri, after T'giving two years ago. People grabbed carts full of the specials and then traded with others that had gone to another item. I left empty handed as the check out lines stretched across the store. Later learned checkout took almost 3 hours. Not for me as I have learned my lesson.
