Default New handles for the cooker

My handles on the old cooker fell apart. I replaced them with these here oak ones. They're made right here in Georgia. What yall think?

How long you had that thing. I have wanted one for years, but being in traveler, will wait till we settle down. Was thinking of making my own, but will see if I have a bud close enough with a welder and cutting torch and check out how much the raw materials would run before I decide. Looks like a cooking machine.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.

They can be recycled when they fall apart.

    minnowsoaker,
    Great handles !
That's the way to use your noggin.
From my own experience I know these grills/cookers rust out at the bottom.
That is caused by the acid in the ashes reacting on the metal.
To make the grill/cooker last a lot longer, mix up enough pearlite (a form of insulating plaster) and put down a layer about an inch thick over the bottom and up the sides about 2 inches.
This keeps the acid from reaching the metal and all you have to do is rinse the ashes out of the grill/cooker.

Thanks yall. I got plenty of backups too.

Centerdriver, I've had this cooker for about 5 years. It's a good cooker. The rust is from gettin it too hot, (over 450+ degrees). It's still in good condition though and expect another 5 years out of it.

1perchjerker, I didn't know about the acid. Thanks for the tip.
