You could do it on awarding scholarships to go to college to those who have 1 earned topps and scored high on standardized tests and most importantly to those who are willing to work while going to school.[/B] Reason being this would increase the chances of kids actually one enrolling in college and 2 finishing bc they would be getting help w/ tuition. Down the road I think we would see the working population be more steady and possibly go up due to more young people making a better life for themselves and coming up with innovative ideas that could transpire in to big business operation nation-wide that would in return create more jobs for everyone simply by one individual taking a leap of faith through hard work. This could become contagious, being successful that is, and who knows what could happen. They would get work experience at an early age making them know the value of a hard days work, the dollar, and what could of been turns into what is. Just my two cents. Hope your class turns out well!

waxnslabs, those are both already commonplace things, thanks for the thought though and I much appreciate your well wishes
See what I mean about controversy. Call and they will come.
I know nothing of today's younger crowd. I believe they were born with Ipods dangling from their a$$hole, thus their confusion as to how life really works..

So yea, blame the unions for doing the decent thing and trying to keep a decent wage for thier workers in an environment wrought full of corporate creed. QUOTE]
decent wages?.......$65 an hour and all the bennies is a lot more than a decent wage, especially for an assembly line worker making a $50,000 product that isnt worth a crap.
I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am
Who would've thought this thread would turn into a union debate? Hmmm.
Anyway, I just saw this posted over at Instapundit:

Starting "What's a good line for crappie" threads since February 2006
Charlie?
Someone is dead wrong and misinformed about white collar union members.
Personally, I don't care. I am retired. However, I never needed anyone to dicker for my wages.
ALSO. If you are on top of your game, they will seek you out in your related field. Headhunters useta worry the chit outa me.

Think about a speech on that you should not have freedom of speech but responsibility of speech.
Ranger, now that is an interesting topic, however I can not get all the info I would need to even start on a speech like that. But if responsibility of speech ever came into play then we would be in one of those situations where it would be a matter of opinion and I would never want someone elses opinion to be in charge of my opinion lol
Many years ago, when I was in college, I had to give a similar type presentation in a Public Speaking class. My topic was term limits for Congress/ Senate. I thought it was relevant then and moreso now. Good luck!
The topic I picked was to pursuade people not to sun tan due to the dangers of ultraviolet rays, both from natural sun and tanning beds. Provide details on what the differences are between the two and the effects they can have on aging your skin as well as the risks of skin cancers. You could probably find a dermatologist that could loan you some graphics with the various types of skin cancer that you could use as visual aids. They say tanning beds aren't as bad as the sun, but from what I remember way back then, there was a much higher concentration of the less dangerous UV-B rays, but the concentration made it just as bad as UV-A. Also, you might touch on the lifelong impact of skin cancer on the ability to get full medical insurance coverage or life insurance, and the required follow ups for years. I thought it was a good topic, based on scientific facts that were readily available. Whatever you pick, hope it goes well.
