If you were going to by a new PU with a diesel eng. what would be your first choice? Ford GMC or Dodge. 3/4 ton.Never have owned a diesel and know very liitle.need some input. Thanks.

What are you intending to use it for? That is the most important question. If it is a work truck than I would get a Dodge or Chevy, but if it is for recreation than I would go with a Chevy. EB

My buddy has an 08 Chevy with the Allison 6 speed trans,super,super nice.The oil changes with the water seperators and such are a little expensive compared to us gas engine guys,but,the power and longevity of these rigs make it worth it,IMO

There's only one truck, Ford. But if you just wanna haul twinkies, an tampons, get a Chevy. Don't bother with Dodge. I've worked construction for 20+ yrs. an have had all 3 for company trucks. Chevy has the best ride, Dodge has the torq, ( as long as the rest of truck will hold up. i.e.: drive train ), but if you take care of em', they'll all do the job. Ford just does it easier! Don't forget, Ford didn't need your tax $ to stay afloat, now there turning a profit, that says alot in my book. :D P.S. Some Toyota's are made in the U.S. , but the profit still goes to Mr. Toyota (Japan). Americans should buy AMERICAN !!!!!!!!!!!! That would help us more than just printin' more funny money, that our grandkids have to payback !!

look. the big 3 trucks are all pretty well engineered at this point. just watch the commercials....their towing capacities are all pretty similar, mileage is all fairly similar, and longevity is pretty similar. its all about the littler features. ride in them, find the one you are the most comfortable with or that has the features that fit you and buy it.

we drove 1400 miles in a chevy 2500 diesel that had 286,000 miles on it. i have another buddy with a dodge that is pushing 250. a guy at work has a ford diesel that has 200+k miles on it.

I would stay away from Dodge years 98.5 to 2006. Injector pump, ball joints, lift pumps and trans will go out easy. I went through that on a 2001 Dodge.
The 6.0 fords are junk.
But every body that I know that owns a chevy really likes them. But there is lemons in all. I went back to gas because diesels are expensive and for everyday driving I think gas is the way to go.
