Congrats on the birth of your son. I am waiting on the birth of my second grandson who is due November 7th. I just was in your state about two weeks ago vacationing in the Black Hills area. Beautiful area. What lakes do you catch crappie in? I did see Pactola Lake in the Black Hills.

i'm not in the black hills i'm on the east side of the state actually in the southeast corner right by iowa and minnesota. i fish wall lake usually its really hit or miss but when the bites on its on. we catch alot of crappie and gills and a lil bit of walleye and a few northern. the northern put up a really good fight so they're fun to catch.

98% of the time i use jigs and i have good luck with them. most people out at the lake i fish at that use minnows are walleye fishing but i fish off the shore because i dont have a boat so i jig . once and a while i use nightcrawler but that catches more gills than crappie.we get some nice color on our gills and sunfish.i cant wait till my other two sons are old enough to fish.my oldest has a very short attention span (typical 3 year old)but i do take him fishing when i go. he fishes for about 20 min and then he gets his bug net and runs around catching bugs and tries to catch minnows but he's not fast enough lol but its so important to take the youth fishing
