I was going thru some of my dad's stuff and ran across this thing......
Can anyone tell what it is and what it might be used for...??

Those two terminals on the back look like something the old TV flat wire hooked to. Some kind of signal amplifier ?
Its a 12 volt DC power supply. We used to use them to operate mobile CB radios in the house on house current instead of the car battery. The two wire terminals on the back are marked positive and negative.......thats what you hook your 12 volt DC device to....plug the cord in the wall and you got 12 volts DC just like a car.

G-3 is right. it's just a power supply. That would work great for people with a 997 that needs power outside the boat. Or any other electronics that runs off 12V.

+1, had a mobile cb in the house for years and used one to run it.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
Use the DC scale....it should read 12 volts if your volt meter is working properly.

Here's a pic of my volt meter actually hooked up to the converter....
I have the meter set on the 50 scale DC and by reading the 50 scale on the meter it still looks to me like it's reading 22v .....
Am I reading this meter wrong...??
