Read your original post. Spiders eat by catching thier pray in thier web. No web, no food, no food they starve to death. Which brings me back to my original post. Why do you want to kill the spiders, they eat all the other bugs?

Sometimes the solution isn't the obvious one. Get rid of the other bugs and you remove the food source for spiders, they will find another place to live. I recommend bat houses. Bats will severelly reduce your bug population, especially on the lake. Or you could use chemicals and pollute the lake. Personally I used the more natural approach and it works great.

My grandmother lived on a lake in Northern Wisconsin. The bugs were so thick around her house they would keep her motion lights on until 3am. She had spider webs everywhere. I built and hung a single bat house on the peak of her garage and within 1 year her bug problem was under control. The spiders moved off the porch and back into the woods. Flash forward 20 years and the bug population is still under control. Wonder how well those chemicals will work year after year? How much will it cost to reapply all season long, every year? What kind of damage will those chemicals do to the water, fish populations over time?

If you don't spray the spider direct no chemical will work on them. Spiders do not clean themselves like other insects so walking through a line of whatever poison you put down will not kill them. Most pesticides work by the insect crawling though it then cleaning themselves and ingesting the poison. Since a spider does not do that they will not ingest the poison.
As stated earlier, the best way to get rid of a spider is to remove its food source. Once they move on you will no longer have a web problem.

Hanr3, Thanks for the lesson on what spiders eat but I bet most people on here already knew that. You sure have a way of beating around the bush to get where you are going, just glad I didn't ask you what time it was, you might have told me how to build a watch.

Thanks for finally getting to your answer. Joe

It's only obvious to those in teh know. Obviously you didnt make the connection between the food source and how to get rid of them. Thus solving your web problem. So I posted my response again, this time with greater detail. What is obvious to one isnt obvious to another. I dont know you or how much you know about the spider world. I posted a simple short answer the first time. You replied and I elaborated becuase you obvioulsy didnt make the connection. Then I included a short story to emphasis the point.

As for your second question, yes I could go into great detail about what time it is. Time is a relative thing. As for the watch, I dont own a watch. I use the position of the sun to know the time of day. Night time gets a little tricky, however I can usually get within the half hour as well. Its something you learn from living outside. And yes I can find north with two sticks. :D

The short answer to your time question. Bottom right side of your computer screen has the time in your location, or look on your cell phone. :D

Beat around the bush, hardly. Some people require more hand holding than others.

    Edited to add:
Through conversation we can solve all things.
