I decided to apply for a BP Visa gas card to start gettin some rebates for my gas purchases.....
(I, also, read that BP uses all domestic oil...don't know if that's true......)
Here's the scenario....
I have stellar credit and I make about 3 times what my wife brings home...so I apply on my income level alone with my wife as a secondary card holder......they deny my application saying that they felt I could not make the payments......
So I immediately reapply for the very same card in my wife's name (who has just barely average credit, and, remember, makes a lot less than I do).... with me as the secondary card holder.....and they accept her application.....
Chime in as to what that says (to you) about credit card companies.......

It says to me that they think you will pay your bills on time and that they wont get any interest out of you. They think she is a risk to be late or an interest opportunity. It's all about them remember.
Exactly right.
Keep us posted on how long they continue paying that rate of rebate on your gas purchases.
I got a Citi card a couple three years ago to get a 5% rebate on gas groceries and drugs but after a year or so they reduced the rate of rebate they now pay. Those b#**&*@ds.
I also have always been a unfavorable customer of credit card companies because I have always payed my balances off each month.
For all you statist collectivist liberal utopians take heed!

I had a card with Capital One - had no problems - all payments made on time - thay kept on raising my limit - then about 3 months ago out of the blue they send me a letter they are raising my rate from 11.95 % to 21.99 % - I was gonna call them and ask for a lower rate because I had the card so long with no late payments - they advised my 11.95 % would be good on my existing balance if I do not use the card again - after the first purchase after July 1, 2009 my rate would go to 21.99% for my entire account - so guess what - now my rate does not matter cause I paid it off - I made a small loan at my credit union to buy a used vehicle and when they ran my credit they offered me a credit card @ 6.9% and increased my credit line another $2500 - do not let these companie bully you
with my mind on crappie and crappie on my mind -
and if ya'll see Goober later tellem I said duh huh - he'll know what ya mean!!!!!!!!
I've had a BP Visa for 6 or 7 years at the 5% rebate. I use it only at BP and rack up a decent amount of rebate in a year.
As previously stated, "If they know you will pay your bill on time they also know they will not be able to collect 'late fee' for being 2 days past THEIR stated payment date (these batards give you zero wiggle room.).
If their payment date is August 1st and your payment gets to them August 2nd, you just got charged a late fee and your interest rate just went to the max allowable by law, which is another topic of concern.
If the govt wants to really help instead of just controlling, start by holding these sob's accountable and quit the gouging.
