Default Slow day at Falls Lake

Well not much to report other than the fish either had lock jaw, or I just wasn't holding my mouth right or something, because I could not get them to bite Monday. I put in at Upper Bartons Creek around 10am and headed for my favorite winter spots. I tried around fish attractors, bridges, fallen trees in deep water, brush piles,,,, nadda. I caught ond white perch early in the day. I tried spider rigging minnows, jigs, minnows tipped with jigs, casting, floats, nothing. The fish liar was marking plenty of fish in all of these spots,,, I guess my boat must stink or something :D. Pretty unusual for me, I can normally at least put ten or twelve in the boat on a tough day.

I had decided to pack it in around 3:00pm and then on the way back I hit one last fish attractor in deeper water. I finally caught a few fish. I pulled five off of this one attractor, the largest being about 1.5lbs, the others were dinks to medium. At least I didn't go crappieless for the day. I may try to hit it again Wed. Today I'm just gonna work around the house, maybe clean my shed and give these crappie some time to adjust their bad attitudes and decide to bite lol.

Man its good to hear that someone is fishing Falls. I get the same results lately. Fish are there but not wanting to eat. If I have any luck at all its late in the day for the hour before dusk. But its encouraging that they are showing some signs of life. This next cold spurt may get them going. At least you got some pullsge and warded off the skunk. I only caught 2 saturday and four sunday. I cant wait till they get schooled up and feeding good.

Well, yesterday they sure seemed schooled up, but not feeding good. The electronic fish liar was in rare form :D . What you said about a better bite at the end of the day is consistent with what I found yesterday as well. When I go to a spot that has produced good fish in the past, I work it thoroughly, using many techniques. Spider rigging various depths, vertical jigging, floats, casting, you name it. So I didn't go into it with one method, and if that doesn't work, write the spot off. Some guys will make that mistake, I try not to. It was just an unusual day, I guess that's why it's call fishing, not catching lol. Normally this time of year is almost a gimme for a good mess of fish.

Well, my plans have changed. I'm doing vacation style chores today (shed cleaning, dump runs). And tomorrow it's supposed to be VERY windy. So I don't think I'll battle the cold, hard wind with the fishing the way it seems to be for the moment. Maybe the next weekend or so will be better, I'm sure gonna try and find out. I had a blast being out there yesterday even if the fishing was slow.

I finally got a chance to go yesterday and had the same results.

We put in at Hwy 50 and hit our normal spots and then some,,,,,,not one bite.

A couple of our friends we ran into were in perty much the same boat (no pun intended).

    One had caught one crappie.

The other had caught a bunch of white perch but only three crappie.

Slow fishing, but still nice to get back on the water,,,,maybe next time!

Well, I hate the fishing was slow, but it does make me feel a little encouraged knowing that it wasn't just me. And yes, it was a very nice day on the lake. Wind was not too bad, it was warm, I wasn't at work,,, all in all a great day.
