My fish finder has been acting up for a while now. It will not stay on, and at times it seems that it is on, but there is not enough power for the screen to work. Any ideas what could cause this? The fish finder is about 8 years old. I was wondering if the fish finder is going bad and needs to be replaced. If so are there any recommendations of what type to get? I have been looking at some humminbird ones, don't really wanna spend over $200 if possible.
Nothing left to do but Smile Smile Smile
ive had the same problem with my hummingbird recently, and FINALLY fixed it. my problem was the connection to the control/fuse box....check your connection there and use a wirebrush if need be.
if at first you dont succeed............drink another beer
Gotta go.......FISH ON !!
I only fish on days that end in"Y"
Your right on the possible connection problem, fish finders don't have a constant off and on switch. Once the power or ground is lost, if only for a split second you have to reboot the finder--so a loose connection can drive you crazy! Also I had dual starting batteries, one of the batteries was bad causing the output of the alt. to put out over 16. volts, this kept knocking out my depth finder. Mine was a Garmin and it came on the screen high voltage, so if that is your problem should be easy to find.
Had the same trouble check connections,it will drive you crazy!!!
