recently while fishing up north. It was cold enough that the braid was getting frozen on the reel when you reel the line back in. It seemed much worse than mono as remember fishing last winter. Just wondering if its this cheap ugly braid or is braid not so good to use in temps that cold. It did not bode well for casting.
I've used at near freezing with no problems. Haven't tried below freezing.
I've not had no problems with Fireline but I also spray my line with Reel Magic after every trip.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
OK thanks for the feedback. Pete said the ugly braid was cheap crap anyway and that may be the problem with it. I have talked to others that use fireline and they liked it. Hear good things about the reel magic also. Guess I need to get to the store.
If its that cold...........might want to try something else.
I don't think I've fished that cold before, save one trip to Cherokee for the trout opener, had to dip the rod tip in the creek to clear the ice.
I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !
Moma tried real hard.
Sometimes in the winter here fishing if you get out there early it can be quite cold and I have had ice form on the rod from the line going through the guides. It was not that big of a problem with the mono line but the braid seemed to retain enough water that it actually frose on the reel and would cast real bad when that happened. Im thinking that the reel magic may be what I need for the braid. I have seen many use it in the winter here but it isnt freezing on a regular basis here either. Was just wondering if others had the issue.
