Wouldn't count on it Redboat. I just read painterfish's post and was kinda low so I ran up to the local shell station here in Pleasant Garden (southeast Greensboro). He had gone from 3.49 this afternoon to 3.68. Not too bad...pulled in and he's completely out of regular and midgrade. Rode 1 mile down the road to the next guy, an independent, and he's gone from 3.49 today to 3.88 but was closed. Rode on down to 421 at a Kangaroo and he's 3.62 but has signs on every pump, a 10 gal limit. It's to help everyone have gas in this energy crisis our country is in he says. Get 10 and go across the street to Exxon, same exact sign and 3.88. Boy's ya had better get the KY ready cause the oil companies have a perfect excuse now. Ike isn't suppose to hit land for at least 24 more hours and they have already created this "crisis". We're doomed. Looks like I'll be fishing at the pond across the street this weekend instead of Jordan 60 miles away. Can't say what's rolling through my mind right now cause I don't want to get kicked off of C.com but........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's gone up $0.50 here this afternoon. They said it could be a dollar by morning. When will our "representatives" every do anything to regulate this "utility"? In my mind petroleum is just as important as electricity in our automobile society...

It went up .20 a gallon from yesterday...and a lot of stations are out of the regular gas. I am hearing a spike up to $5.00 or more a gallon.

Maybe I'm not listening but did anyone hear a reason for this "crisis"? I know gas went through the roof in Galveston and surrounding area yesterday. Aren't the oil companies sooo concerned about the public and average Joe? Those people HAVE to leave the area but not before they go by the pawn shop and pawn Mom's wedding ring so they can buy enough gas to save their FREAKIN LIVES. So...what's a storm in the Gulf of Mexico that hasn't hurt anything YET got to do with NC's gas prices going through the roof and service stations running out of gas? Someone please help me understand this. I'm all for private industry making a profit, dang, I do it everyday, that's how I feed my family (well except for feeding them crappie which usually ends up costing me like $18.00/lb of filets), but these oil companies are ruining this country. They're plain and simple price gouging. Is gouging the right word? I mean oil actually hit a record low price for the last 5 months yesterday. Is there not some kind of law that prohibits this, especially on a crucial item such as fuel. Guess not...specially when half the higher government is tied to and owned by oil companies. OK...I've flipped out enough...guess everyone here wonders if I'm floating on a level keel. I just wish the people of Texas good luck, I'll be praying for your safety. As for the rest of the country I'll say a prayer for us too. God knows we need his help to protect us from our own.

Its my understanding its a distribution issue with the pipelines from the gulf since the platforms has been shut down. I think that is BS...since in Greensboro, they have the gasoline storage tanks near the airport that holds untelling how many zillion gallons of fuel. And if I am not mistaken Colonial Pipeline, come directly from the gulf coast in a round about way...You can not tell me they did not see this coming and could have kept some in reserve. Its just big oil playing on the hysteria of the consumer. If they can keep the supply tight for a couple of weeks...then people will pay whatever they ask for gasoline. Seriously our national leaders need to get a handle on big oil...well I think most of them are already in their pockets.
