    Default high rock 9-6

thought id make a post for those heading out early in the AM.

me and a buddy fished from dark til roughly midnight. ran out of 15 doz minnows by 1030 pm!! only problem was it wasnt from crappie. i have never caught so many white bass in my life......only problem was they were all about 5-8 inches long.....and YES they were white bass and not white perch...didnt really catch that many keeper crappie my guess only because the white bass were soooo thick. after about 10pm when we started using shad, you couldnt fish more than 2 rods. must of caught nearly 100 of them!!

anyways final tally was approx 20 +/- kept white bass/white perch, and 29 keeper crappie. about 8 or so i normally wouldnt keep, but they were gut hooked so why let the koons get em? buddy got the biggest slab of the night at about 1 3/4 lbs. most other keepers were the 11-13 inch variety with a few gut hooked 8-10 inchers.

water temp was 81 degrees and clarity is what i normally see at HR. good luck to those fishing early in the AM!

Pete I have noticed when they are real thick like that all you can do is try to get under them, which is tricky because they will follow the minnow down
