    Default High Rock 9-5-08

Well me and C-More didn't make it to T. T. ,instead went to the Rock. Got there around 9 am. We were tightlining jigs and shad, yes i said shad... throwed the cast net about 3 times and had all we needed. Headed toward Timberlakes place and started dropping lines in 16ft. of water. Moved around a bit till we figured out a pattern, and then it was on !! We left about 1:30 pm and we had clicked 86 fish that were keeper size. Didn't keep any but would have probably had 40 real good eaters. A lot of fish were around 11 - 12 in.Forgot the camera this time since it was going to be a short run. Gave a guy that was fishing near us 12 of the bigger ones, he was wanting to take some to his dad,and he seemed to be struggling finding fish. I say this was a lot of fun today, I will never forget the camera again, because you never know.........

    Good job.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Dang Keeper, Between You And Pete There Ain't Going Be Any Fish Left At The Rock. I'm Glad You Threw Most Of Them Back, I Might Want To Go Again Sometime. Wore Them Out!!!!!!!! Nice Going Guys. How Big Were The Shad? I've Never Used Them To Crappie Fish With. Man What A Trip. Thanks For Not Going To The Town, Me And Possum Need All The Fish To Be At Home When We Go. The More Thats In There, The Better Chance We Got Of Catching A Few.

hey simple, the shad were just the right size, between 1 1/2 in - 2 in. in average. threw the bigger ones back. you have to have a good bait tank with water flow to keep them alive. ( they die quick ) we even caught a few very small stripers on them and white perch. always hoping for a nice striper to hit. now that would have been a good fight !

Nice report Keeper. You often use shad for bait when crappie fishing? From this report it seems they may be the bait of choice. I have thought of trying it myself but never did use try them for crappie. Makes perfect sense though. you ever try minnows side by sside whit the shad and find any preferance?
