I am researching this boat and may be interested in one. Been looking at the JVX series and looks like a good boat for crappie. I would like opinions on this boat. Also If You own any model Carolina Skiff, I would like your opinion of the boats. My biggest concern is that it only draws about 4 to 8 inches of water and am wondering if wind would be a factor? Thanks.CF

Cf My Poor Little Wallet Will Never Let Me Own One But I Do Know A Few Fellows That Have Them. Most Say Its The Best All Around Fishing Machine There Is. Room To Spare For Gear And Equipment. Handles Rough Water And Not Bad To Load Or Unload. Have Heard Complaints About The Wind Giving You A Fit. That Ain't Nothing An Auto Pilot Wouldn't Fix.

for the money you cannot beat them
with my mind on crappie and crappie on my mind -
and if ya'll see Goober later tellem I said duh huh - he'll know what ya mean!!!!!!!!
I don't own a Carolina Skiff but I crappie fish alot with my buddy who's got a 19'er. Takes the water great and has tons of room. The wind blows it around some. Takes 2 pretty good anchors to hold it in a 15 -20 mph wind. I would consider a Bay Rider made by Ken Craft. Very simular boat but with a lower profile.
CF, there is a Carolina Skiff for sale on the South Carolina board. Recent post under the SC stuff for sale sticky. Had rod holders alaready on it, pretty new boat.

I've got a 19 ft DLV and my father in law has a 21 ft DLV with a Ttop. I've had the 21 out 16 miles in the ocean catchin' kings and I've had also had it in 2 feet of water.
Lots of room...great boats.
I have a 1765 DLX that I purchased back in June. I really like the way the boat handles. Unless the wind is blowing hard, I mean 15mph or better, the MinnKota Riptide 55lb w/autopilot and co-pilot has no problem. If it blows harder than 15 mph I just put out a drift anchor and the problem is solved. The best thing about the Carolina Skiff, in my opinion, is the room to fish that it has.
We just recently upgraded to a 218DLV Elite with a t-top (from a 15ft. whaler) and Love it. Its got plenty of room to fish 4-8 people easy and plenty of storage for rods, tackle, etc. Handles on the water very well and ya cant even hear the 4 stroke runnin when its wide open. Its definitely great if you want a good, solid all around boat. We wanted something we could fish the lakes around here one weekend and head for the coast the next weekend at the drop of a hat.
I am on my second Carolina Skiff. Gives me a lot of space and rides great. Just watch your turns, not to tight or fast. My buddy was saltwater fishing and following a creek a little to fast because the tide was going out and he slid upon the flat. Had to sit until the tide returned.
Safe for the family.
The only problem I have had, is the height of the front deck. Solved it by creating a step and having a hand rail made. I will send you a picture if you buy one.
Owned flat bottoms, bass boats and now the skiff. I have found the best for me.

I have a 1988 lancer center console 17ft longe 74in beam. it was repowered in 2000 with a 60 yamaha. It's set up like the skiff and handle the water great. wind does become a factor around 20 mph.but with wind that high it's a factor for all boats. I just bought a crestliner that is bigger and wider and will be selling my lancer after a tournament this weekend.
Every day has good in it, take time to find it.
