Was wondering what system some you use to keep an accurate count of crappie in the live well. Trying to count fish in a livewell is tough when you are nearing your limit. Any thoughts or quick and easy solutions would be appreciated. I know a piece of paper and a pen would solve the problem...just curious how others keep track.

I use a Mr Crappie clicker/counter from Bass Pro Shops. $3.99. Works great as long as you remember to click it. Sometimes things get busy and you forget. Link below.

my boat has 2 livewells. i always start out throwing all of them into 1. when i get close to a limit i stop and take time to count them out into the other. when i do this i also separate the smaller into a bucket. when i finish counting the smaller ones go in the empty livewell for culling. i think the clicker counter would be great. i have just ordered one. i will try using it when it comes in. do you think i should have gotten 3 clickers? one for my dad, one for my brother, one for me? we do get competitive about who catches the most.lol plus a lot of times we dont keep all of them so the counters would make sure we are truthful about how many we end up catching.lol
another way, which I am doing now, if you have a large livewell, have a plexiglass removable divider, when you think you are close, slide in divider and put counted ones on other side.. be sure to put holes in divider so water can flow thru..I used that in my bait tanks when I had bait shop years ago... I used a concrete casket vault with stainless steel drain for bait tank and worked fantastic,,, until you had to move it!!! LOL wee then used 2"pipe as casters and rolled it around..Held good water temps and easy to clean too!!
I never seem to have that problem. Can't get over a dozen:D:D
I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !
Moma tried real hard.
3 clickers should do it. Having only one clicker and 3 anxious fisherman always leads to error; somebody always tries to sneak a couple in the livewell when I'm not looking.
Even with the counter I still re-count before heading to the ramp for the day. Especially if I think I have the "exact" limit, chances are I'm off by one. Not worth $100+ ticket for an extra crappie.
You'll like the clicker. Tie it to the livewell lid.

Yep...same here. Haven't needed any clicker! Hard enough to get a dozen as well!

I do same thing as hpcrappieman, except, my is not removable. My boat came with the divider. Sometimes I wish it were so I could get larger fish in like a couple good 20" stripers.
