Default Striper trip 4/21 and Wheeler 4/25

I managed to get in 2 good fishing trips while on vaation this past week and 1more planned tommorow. First one was a Striper Fishing Trip in MD this past Mon 4/21. Went out of Edgewater MD with 3 friends around 7AM. Fished till approx 2:30PM. Weather was nasty all day long which we anticipated as it was in the forecast. Rain and Winds with gust to 20mph. We trolled artificials all day long in about 30-35 ft of water. Most fish were caught in top 8ft of water caught a few in deeper water. Ended up with 9 fish caught. All fish were healthy at different stages on spawn and 5 were released as this is trophy season and you are only allowed t keep 1 fish per person. Majority of the fish we caught were 20 -25lbs range with largest being 31lbs. I know this has nothing to do ith North Carolina Crappie Fishing but figured I'd post it anyways as I promised reports from Fishcation.

    Wheeler 4/25

Fishing reports for Lake Wheeler are pretty much right on the money based on my fishing yesterday. Went out at 7:00AM fished till approx 2:30PM. Did not keep count of the total number of fish I caught but it was plenty. Used up 8dz minnows. I kept 10 Crappie total and biggest weighed in at 2lbs 14oz. White Female Crappie post spawn. I guessed she was over 3 easy but your eyes will mislead you on initial inspection many times anyways. Other nine that I kept went from 1.5lbs to approx 1/2lb I let a many 10 in. fish go. I plan on seeing them again later anyways no need to be greedy. Also caught some White Bass a few Sunfish. 4 Catfish and 4-5 freshwater Eels (Buddy was bottom fishing worms) Let all of those go. Fantastic Day on the water and a big improvement from last friday at Falls. The Big Girl is being measured and photographed (Will try to post pics later) and I will have a mount maid. I'm going to claim her as my other bookend to go on the wall with the 4lb 3oz I got a few years back. Tight Lines!

There is a local taxidermist a few miles from my house (Olde Raleigh) He did my 1st big crappie a few years ago and did a great job. I think I'll talk to him and see if he can possibly incorporate the 1st fish and 1 or 2 of my big fish from this year into 1 "super" mount kinda see what kind of creative masterpiece we can come up with.

That sounds like a great idea. I have seen some nice ones done with 2 crappie. I just need to find 2 worth mounting. I was fishing up north and saw a 42 inch Pike mounted in the lodge where we were fishing and it was awsome. Im after one like it to mount with a crappie. Maybe not. Just one of my strange thoughts. It may pass. lol

    FishCrazy,

Hit me up next this winter or early next spring (PM me) and we'll see what we can do to help get ya something well worth mounting. I've had a pretty good string of luck these past few years with trophy size crappie. Feeling more and more confident now that it can be done consistently certain times and certain places.

Default Pic from Annual Striper/Rock trip to MD

A Pic from my annual Striper chasing trip to MD. This fish is really nothing to wow over at this point. We generally get 9-10 this size in a day with a few being quite a bit larger. Generally we catch them between 18-20 lbs many 25-30 range and biggest right at 40. Been making the run for past 10 years.
