Lake James ?
any reports from James this week, crappie or walleye????
-
I haven't heard a thing around the campground....weekends have been wet, so not alot of fishing going on...not to mention gas prices.
I finally got to toss a line from the bank last night (worms)....one perch...and missed a couple of walleye bites...least that's what it felt like.
Water levels are way up...to full!!!!
I'm still working on our deck at the camper...but I did manage to fill up the pontoon boat, change the prop, and get her ready!

I did hear a tale that one boat went out 3 weeks ago...and returned with a 2 man limit of crappie in 45 minutes. I didn't believe it...till I saw the remains of the filets at the end of the dock.
This was after a day of heavy rain...and they fished the Catawba end just inside the muddy/clear line (somewhere near the Moose Lodge).
Which end do you walleye fish? We used to have a boat-in campsite on the Linville end, and I did well up there, but now we have a camper on the Catawba end and I didn't have much luck at all last year. Only caught one...but it was 27"! Caught it just outside the cove to Barefoot Landing.

waterdog i fish james pretty regularly they are catching the crappie around brush tops from the moose lodge all the way to black bear, has been the best year for crappie i have seen in a long time.have been catching good numbers of walleye on the main lake points using #7 shad rap in perch color.and nightcrawlers on crawler harnesses. don"t overlook the white bass schooling in the same area on litte fishies and white rooster tails the last 3 weeks they have really been hot.a friend of mine went there last tues. and caugt between 80 and 100 late that evening in around 2 hours.as for the walleyes they will just keep going point to point over the next two months till they get to deeper waterj you just have to follow them.i hope this will be of some help.happy fishing!
