just wondered if anyone has checked out the dock at bells? they must have paid a lot of money for those green lights! seen them advertised as the next best thing than a net! has anyone had any luck at the dock since they put in those lights? guess they got tired of picking up all those cylinders from all the lanterns.

Did they put in underwater lights there?
This is the first time in a week I haven't been to Bell's at night. Let's see...they haven't been that hot as far as catching a limit. Last Wednesday I fell into a hole and caught 10 keepers to take home and only threw back 2 rudies. From Thursday until Monday the bites were slow and I on average took home 4 keepers. Others on the pier had better luck, but last night I caught 10 keepers and gave two away to a buddy who wasn't getting any bites. They were some slabs too.
One thing that I did notice last night was there were about 3 keeper size crappie floating in the water. I remember someone, maybe Monk, saying that a lot of crappie die after the spawn. This is my first time seeing that. Out of the 8 that I took home last night, only half had eggs. The rest had sperm glands.
The pier has been pretty empty since saturday. last night they're were on average, only 3-4 fishermen on the pier at any given time.
I like the green lights. I only needed a lantern when I was cold last Wednesday. It's cool seeing the bream come up to the surface.
Anyhow, I'll be returning tomorrow or Saturday. Good luck to all who come.

Hi Kev: do I still need lantern to fish there, even with the green lights there?
if you are tight lining fishing before you get to the first bench, then you will need it.
like i said, i only needed it when i was cold.
i think i'm through with bells until late fall, unless i go at 2:00am.
