    Default Norman 4/20 4/21

fished last night and it was pretty slow and windy. only managed 3 cats, and 2 striper.

fished today at the hothole and limited out, but it wasnt a easy thing. started at 1, left just before 4 with the last fish. 3 caught on bottom, 1 on topwater. had one that was about 27-28 inches and probably pushing over 8 lbs, and the others the typical 20-22 inch fish.

might go in the AM with topwater plugs only and give it a try.

    Gotta go.......FISH ON !!
I only fish on days that end in"Y"

Wow!!! I was there the 19th, and managed to catch 64 perch, a short striper, and some bass. Going to wateree next Saturday... Better luck next time.

Sounds like fun Pete...gosh I cant believe I didnt see you at Gander Mountain getting a siminar by the so called, self proclaimed professional Gus yesterday whata joke. Ehh Ive given up on striper fishing on purpose for the year. Much bigger, flatter, uglier things in the sites now.

haven't fished norman for years, but visiting my sister this weekend. She lives by marker 14 which is by Kiser Island or the mouth of Mountain Creek ((I think that's the name its the one with Slanting Bridge.

Any suggestions where to try for stripers in that area or crappie.

I think I met Gus at the boat show last year in CLT. Made me remember when Pete said something about those cork floats.
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.

Pete Ive seen your pics of your catch. You dont need help from Gus. Seriously. Ive came back to the dock with more than him one more than one occasion when he'd come get clients at LKN Motel in Mountain Creek. Hands down the best guide to ever fish Lake Norman is Ty Mathis. Yes, lieing Ty. Lies maybe about where he's catching them to some people but he's never misguided me. If proof is in the pudding then Ive seen the pudding more times than I can remember in my days that I hung out at Midway. He's part fish. Id give him and John Morrow (Little Mo) two days on Norman and Gus and his cult a week and put money that Ty and John had more fish in their two days then the other guys. Any man that has to use ocean fish to advertise their services on a lake has lot my respect (look at his cards)

had a buddy once go out with Ty on one of them nasty days a few years back. all they caught all day was 1 white bass and 1 spotted bass. Ty unlike most guides told him that he'll hook em up on another trip soon since that one stunk at no cost. the next trip they all loaded up......he aint that bad.

this winter was my first one really fishing hard for striper being new to the upper end. i patterned them pretty good and can comftorably say that i can catch em now anytime i go out :D
