Default 7 Days On The Rock

Returned Sat 4/19 from a week long stay on High Rock. All I can say is...
What a lake. You guys that live close enough to fish it regular are soooo
blessed. I took my 3 kids for three days, then Chugbug & 4 friends came for the rest of the week. I got my limit within an hour or two each day, then just had a blast catching & releasing fish. Caught between 100 / 200 every day.
Best fish of the week was 14 1/2 inch female probably a little over 2 lbs.
Fished all week in Abbots with 1/32 oz. jigs. Color didn't seem to matter. Used red, black, chart, or white heads with all manner of tail colors. Used crappie magnets, regular round heads & some hand made hair jigs.
Fish were larger as the week went on.
Wish ya'll coulda seen my 12 year old. The house we rented had a paddle boat & he took the 13 gallon trash can from the kitchen, filled it half full, & called it a livewell. Took one rod & wore out the docks in the coves closest to the house. It was freedom for him, having his own "boat".

if I would spend as much time on the other parts of the lake....as I do Abbotts I expect they would all be about the same.

I just want to thank Skeeterguy for setting up our trip to High Rock. We had a great time and caught loads of fish. Our fish were all sizes and like Skeeterguy said catching a limit was not a problem. We had to hit it just right as the better fish moved up to the banks on Thursday and we really had a lot of fun. We trolled on Wednesday afternoon and did okay, but when the fish seemed to move up on Thursday the trolling bite didn't work for us, but casting the docks, brush and walls was on! Skeeterguy got us a nice house to stay in and had everything set up when we arrived. It was just fishing fun! Us guys from the west are envious of you folks down near the Rock. Tightlines to all!

I think this is true. And gilby, you are right. Everyone does have thier preference. I think it depends on the type of fishing you want to do that determines where you go on High rock. You want to troll, go up river to second, crane, swearing & even flat swamp. Alot of people do well trolling up in that area. But I believe that if you want to fish docks, Abbotts/Buddle are you best bets. I know I have not fished the whole lake, but I have spent some time in a small part of most areas and this is just my observations.
    Tight lines to everyone

    dead on the money, crappiefinder

Skeeter Guy glad you had a great time, I seemed to recall you were staying on one of the Lake drives. I hadn't gotten up that far in Abbotts Creek yet this year, gonna head that way for sure. Glad you caught some fish.
