Went to Lake Norman yesterday to drop some bamboo and maybe catch a bluecat or a striper. Dropped one load at 15' one at 24', the 24' load was launched with a large skin/blood and DNA sample attached, had the cement block slide down my shin. Droped the big load way out in open water at 33'.
Marked waypoints and went to catch a few perch for bait. We set up on a large school of fish in Ramsey Creek and started catching perch as fast as bait got to the bottom. Capt. Harry had a sabiki rig and tiped each fly with a earthworm. I think he got six on one drop and at least 4 or 5 on any drop. Looked like a string of fish everytime he reeled in. Finished up with 74 perch, a short striper, and 4 spoted bass. Fished in a howling wind for stripers till dark, caught nothing but more spots, then got run off the lake with a lightning storm. Dang weather.
Some of the bravest men lay in the ground from Ft Moultrie to Appomattox.
Was nice and calm on Wylie lastnight............granted the perch didnt cooperate for us, nor did anything else for us lol. I'll give ya a call and give ya the low down a little bit later. Sounds like I need to go to Ramsey Creek.
Yep, I was there. Sure was funny. Yall should have seen Harry catch the perch! There were only 64 perch, not 74. Felt like more, though. Cant wait till next weekend, going to Wateree. I made a homeade sabaki rig.... cant wait to try it out. Used hooks, a white garbage bag, red thread, superglue, and a knife. Ask me if anyone wants the instructions...

Hope to catch a keeper striper next time, mabey some cats. Love to catch some more perch, but most were in the five to six inch range. Some were eight or nine inches. Cats ate well. Anybody else use sabaki rigs for perch? I dunno. Cant wait till next weekend.
