Falla Report 4-18-08
Put in at Hwy 50 launch around 8:00am water temp was around 60. A good many boats on the water as expected as the weather was beautiful and winds very light. Heard quite a few ramp reports that the bite was good on 4/17 (Looking at the pics Vince posted it was really good) We left out hoping to follow suit. Oh what a difference a day makes. We fished till 2:00pm. Fished every cove from the dam and launch area to both Lick and Lttle Lick creeks on one side of 50 to the New Light Rd. Bridge. Fished the banks, laydowns and any water that looked promising tried to stay 8 - 15 ft of water while trolling. Partner and I ended up with 3 fish no keepers and No crappie. Caught 1 small Striper a samll Largemouth and decent Cat. Lost 1 fish close to the boat identity unknown. Albeit better than working it was a pretty poor day fishing. Still nice to be out on the water though. I was thinking maybe it was just me but I we didn't see many fish caught by anyone and other boaters reported same thing we did nearly nothing to talk about in that area of the lake. UBC area may be the place to go if heading to Falls in the near futureI will be on Fishcation next week so will try to post what we run into next week. Tight Lines and Keep it safe!

I hate it that you did not get on any fish! You just have to chalk it up as a "Oh Well!" and get on them next time!

I have an OH WELL for Saturday at UBC area.Put the canoe in at the public fishing site and fished the standing timber first with no bites. The wind was howling out there and had no direction to it. Then tried laydowns with no results there either. Went to the back of the creek and had no luck there either. Did manage a few cats but thats all. Saw a ton of what I think were carp in the back shallows and along the bank splashing the surface. Some were jumping out of the water. Lots of life just no crappie. Some of the fish hitting the surface Im sure were bass. I would have tried some top water but didnt have any. Man if any place looked like crappie heaven that place did. I would think that if there are crappie in Bartons creek that is where they are headed to. Just cant figure why they arent there yet. The hwy 50 area that you fished had me stumped also. There were tons of fish there staging all through the winter. Tons of them, but not a fish to be found hardley now. Where I fished right at the dam is not holding any fish now. I do think that those fish went into the shallows of beaverdam lake though. Where the ones down river from there went I dont know. But I thought surely there would be fish in Lick creek. Sorry you had a day like mine but it happens. Did see a lot of wildlife on our outing and that made up for no fish. Dang this wind.
