Thread: hot night on norman 5-2

fished norman last night....started bottom fishing and caught a handful of cats (with one Finally going 20 lbs) and 2 large striper. i pulled anchor and about 1130 and headed on.

i got a hot tip from a reliable person on where to catch striper good on topwater at night.....so with the full moon i figured it couldnt be a better time! went to the spot and casted and casted and casted....nothing. just when i was about to give up hope..WAM nice 26 inch fish. next cast, another fish.....this went on for hours! i found the hot zone and the striper were pounding it. no joke, i caught a few striper in LESS than 1 ft of water!! i was having so much fun, i looked at the watch and it was 4AM...time flys when your having fun. must of caught 30 + fish of various size. anything from 14 inches up to about 27 inches. all on super spooks. next time im gonna need to try the refins.

now i cant wait to go back.....possibly Sunday night?? :D

Sounds like you had some Norman fun..:D .LOL....Congrats to you on your catch...And I don't blame you...I would go back too....

i have to say, nightstalking has never been so fun....to catch em in less than a foot of water, thats exciting!! its pitch black, you really dont see the plug at all, and all you hear is Wham.....id be called a lier if i said that i caught fish on every cast, but for some reason them fish dont hit solid at night.....ive had them hit the plug 6 times last night several times and not get a hook in em......and they were all nice fish too judging ffrom the swirl. a couple of times, i could see the wake of a fish following the plug all the way in.

the only drawback is that seems they only hit like that on a flat calm slick night.

you aint joking.......he'll hear it from me next time i see him. not often a striper fisherman tells another of a hotspot :D i was told to keep it on the DL or else! ha

try some shallow main lake points:D

ditto on the shallow main lake points.i have never been on norman before,but back home in georgia you could fish the long flat mainlake points at nite no lites with a thingpopper behing a weighted popping cork and hang on for the bite from hybrids.reel steady no stop,and go.when they are on you will have a fit waiting for a hookup.lots of fun.hot summer is best.
