    Default bottom fishing morehead city

went on the 24 hr headboat trip out of morehead city this weekend. didnt do to bad. didnt wear em out, and yet ive definatly had worse days. caught about 15 bee-liners, some pinkies, and some other bottom fish. i didnt get lucky this time and stuble upon a grouper. there were about 25 or so total caught. at one stop there must of been 12-15 caught.

i was the only one light lineing off the back of the boat, and did manage to land 2 kings, both near twins at 8 and 9ish lbs. lost 2 other kings not much of size. at the very end of the trip, i hooked into a brute. fought the beast for near 20 minutes with 20 lb line. at one point i saw the gold in the spool show before i started gaining on it. had a the crowd gather on the top deck to watch. some peeps started hollaring 30 + lb king, yada yada......ended up being a damn false albacore in the 12-14 lb range....uggggg crab bait. not bad for 20 lb line, on top of that i reeled it 4 bottom rigs with the fish :D

anywho thats the summary.....ill post pics later on.

on the side note those who go to the beach, this morning the spanish macks made a showing on the beach for the first time this spring.......its almsot time!

Pete, I was at the beach all week too. Too bad I couldn't catch any fish at Fat Harold's and Ducks.

definetely a good way to get some table fare but just not way favorite way to fish - we fished the turn basin back the second week in April ...caught lots of undersize trout but finally got into some decent sea mullet and croakers... fishing the Emerald Isle area in Bouge Sound we started catching some good size blues on MirorLures and green grubs...was trying to find trout there but the blues invaded us and man are those things fun to catch on light tackle - a 2 lb blue will nearly snatch your rod out of your hands when they hit
with my mind on crappie and crappie on my mind -
and if ya'll see Goober later tellem I said duh huh - he'll know what ya mean!!!!!!!!
