    Default Jordan 4-29

I fished Beaver creek sunday morning and caught a lot of fish trolling beside the slalom course in about 10 to 12 foot of water. Fish were on the bottom. About 9:30 the wind showed up big time and there was no way to keep boat sped right, then about 10 the weekend warriors showed up. I called it a morning and headed in. At the ramp a man asked me where he could buy a boat plug. I gave him a few places to try and then remembered my spare livewell plug. He explaned it was his first trip to the lake this year and he couldn't remember were he put the plug. Anyway my plug fits so he hops in his truck with no offer to pay or a thank you. I stopped him and explaned that I would have to replace that plug if he could spare 2 or 3 dollars. He fumbles around for a moment before asking his wife if she had some money. She pulls out a five and he hands it over and ask me if I have change. If he had offered to pay I would given it to him. Oh, went back last night and caught my limit outside the Ebeneezer bridge. Several 11 and 12 inch fish for the freezer and threw that many back for seed. CK.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

Beaver creek seems to be an excellent spot for spawning crappie but I was farther back in the creek than you were. I was there last weekend and I'll remember this for next year.

Some people take for granted someone's generocity. I don't blame you one bit for stopping that guy about your plug.

    CK,

Glad you got into em. I absolutely know what you mean about the wind back there. I, too, tried hard to fight it last week. It does sound like they are headed a bit deeper now. Thanks for the report. Sounds like you were very kind to the less than appreciative plugless fella. He obviously isn't much of a fisherman.
I know the time I had to ask for help retrieving my boat, I offered the super nice fellas something for their time and effort. They would not take it PERIOD.
The last time I helped a fella at the ramp, I would not take what he offered me either. But, the offer was there, showing appreciation. THAT is what the message was in the action. Your little friend didn't deserve your kindness, but you know you are a true gentleman and fisherman to have done it. I hope if I ever get in trouble again out there, that there will be someone like you that I can try to show my appreciation to.

    Turkeyfoot,

I've been way back there to that RR bed you were talking about too. I haven't ever caught doodlie back there. I'm sure that someone has though, cuz people keep trying

I'm thinking it's about time for them to be hanging on the deeper coves on the Haw River part of the lake, down near the dam. Hmmm.... which way do I go?
"Be Ye Fishers of Men" You catch them- He will clean them

Like I said, had he offered to pay for it or just say thanks I would have let him have it for free. I was already in a foul mood because of all the idiots out there anyway so when he just turned to get in his truck I decided to let him know it. Pro crappie was fishing under the bridge Saturday night, along with a dozen or more other boats when some guy came flying under the bridge at full bore. Needless to say he got called everything but a gentleman. He pi--ed alot of people off. CK .

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!
