tuna trip got canceled for the weekend because of the winds, got invited by screwdriver and his crew to fish the tower area. the forecast was great for it so off we were. boat in the water by 8 am Friday and out we went. made it to the tower close to 9:30. the ocean was slick as glass. didnt get all lines in the water before we had our 1st and 2nd fish on. none of em made it to the boat. anywho to make a long story short, we limited out with 12 kings by 1pm. we lost many many more. smallest king was bout 8 lbs, biggest was 20 lbs caught on the "green machine" thats a new plug ive heard about and got a few that i just had to try out. it was guaranteed to catch big fish and it sure did!! the 20 lber was the very first fish to hit the plug. im already a believer.
nice gaff job Mike :D
then we started bottom fishing. right off the bat i got a nice keeper grouper. then it was downhill from there as far as size. caught a load of grey snapper, and other various stuff. it was fast and furious. hell we even caught a big king on a bottom rig with a piece of squid!! then as we were bout to call it quits, something bout ripped the rod out of my hand and the battle was on. the drag on my bottom rig was locked down and the fish was still pulling drag! shortly there after it surfaced and i was shocked to see a huge African Pompano!! rare fish at that, but even rarer to catch em this time of year!!
our "limit" a 150 qt cooler packed to the point you need a bungee cord to keep it closed!
we forgot to take a pic of all the fish layed out before we cleaned em on Friday.

Gotta go.......FISH ON !!
I only fish on days that end in"Y"
Saturday it was rougher than what the weather man had called. 2-3 ft seas were more like 4-6 ft seas. 3/4 of the way there we might as well go all the way. the action was pretty steady. we limited out on nice kings once again, but we had to work pretty hard to land em.........whole. seemed like the cudas wanted the fish more than us. we'd hook nice 15 + lb fish, and only bring back about 3 lbs of fish!! this happened to us about 6-8 times Saturday. but we still wound up with a nice limit between 8-15ish lbs.
does someone look tired?? :D
as usual catch fish or not, we had fun out there reguardless. though frusterating at times, the fish cooperated. im used to hearing that screwdriver is bad luck on fishing trips. well thats 4 trips in a row that hes caught fish!! hummmm maby someone is wrong :D :D anyways westly, mike, and jerry, i enjoyed it. hopefully we can work out a OBX trip this January.....of course if the weatherman doesnt lie!!!
oh and westley and mike whenever you get a chance e-mail me em pics.....ty much.

Some of them striper from the surf would be nice. I heard of a few being caught already. What you hearing? If you were going after them in the surf where would you look for em?
