Well the run to the coast this past weekend ended with a flurry. Most of the day Saturday was spent catching a straggler every once in a while. Then around 2:30pm the spots started hitting the deck. From the suds out 150 feet or so they were coming in 2 at a time until dark. I was sitting on the outer limits and caught all I wanted and then some. Some were cleaning upwards of 200 or so. I myself don't like spots that good to spend 2 hours cleaning them. Enough for 1 fry was satisfying enough to me. Now 200 Crappie is a different story. I'll take those all day.
I caught only a couple spot and one pompano but when I was at obx and fished the pier on day. But I kept the spot and the pomp since I never had eaten either one before and thought that the both were quite good. Good enough that I think I would freeze some for later. I just didnt have that option. Glad to hear you got into em. Where did you fish?
spots are good eatin fish too...right up there with crappie in MHO...im glad somebody got into em pretty good...when we make it down, they either bit the day before or i hear about them tearin up the day after we left...at least i don't have that kind of luck in fresh water. spot thing is real hit or miss.
