My parents are arriving tomorrow and are bringing me a gift from my aunt. She is giving me two liquor decantors from the 1930's.. One is in the shape of a fish and the other one in the shape of a fisherman.. One is empty and the other one (I think) is unpoened and contains Jim Beam..
1) If stored right (I don't know if it was) would the Jim Beam still be good, like a 70 year old scotch??
2) Should these be something I should take on the antique road show to see if they are worh any money??
Any thoughts???
Drink it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of those old Jim Beam decanters are worth a lot of money.

Redboat, you can open the bottle and check if there is any mold or bad smells, if not it should be fine to drink but unfortunatly liquor doesn't age once its been bottled, well other then the physical age but it does nothing to improve the taste or smoothness. Oh lastly once you see the bottles check on Ebay and it will let you know about what they are worth.
Have one for all of us cheers!
That liquor is bad, better let me take for disposal.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
lets us know the value, i have my late grandparents colection of jim beam decanters(roughly 20) they aint for sale but uim curious
Redboat, Reminded me of a Elvis decantor I had, unopened, in early 80's. My teenage daughter and a friend found and opened it. It was party of a collector set and I was kinda mad. I was told it ruined the value if opened. To get another one unopened to complete my set I had to go to ebay and pay almost 100.00 for one seal unbroken. I still have them but no idea as to the curreent value. If the seal is broken, DRINK IT!!!!!.
Bottle will be worth as much empty as full with seal broken.

Here they are:
The seal on the fish is not broke and to tell the truth, I'm not sure I want to break it either...
I wouldn't break the seal either......just drill a couple holes in the bottom !!
