These Torpedo Surf weights are available for purchase at Lanier's True Value Hardware in Lexington, NC. They are on main street across from the Civic Center. They have a huge parking lot in the back of the store on State Street. Everbody needs to check them out. This place is a genuine old timey hardware store that has just about everything from apple peelers to Zebras.
Tell them Kelly Green sent ya.

I surf fish quite a bit and these are the only weights that i use. A 3oz. torpedo weight has the holding power of a 5oz. triangle weight..
Remember, throw'em back unless ITZAKEEPER ....

I surf fish more than most and I bet it don't do better than a Sputnik style weight. Those wire feet make up for alot of lead. A 5 oz Sputnik holds like an 8 oz standard weight, maybe like a 10 or a 12. If you shark fish and the bait is large, I dont think you need to use that much.
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.

I hear alot of people throwing 8oz weights especially in the winter..So what is the point to which it just begins to get too heavy? As far as casting distance...

it depends on the rod. i have seen rods throwing 12oz+bait. 8oz+bait is most common on the outerbanks for bigger game fish redfish, cobia, stripers etc.
