The ones I use are 12 feet.. I typically use only 10lb line with a 30lb shock leader. I'm comfortable throwing a 5oz+ bait. geesh maybe thats why my luck has not been so good... Need a longer rod!

I have compared the torpedo to the sputnik too. now the sputnik does hold pretty good, but as far as casting and storing of the weights , can't beat the torpedo... I surf the coast from the banks of NC to the jetties of Murrells Inlet, SC. the sputniks seem to work better for my rods over 12ft. but for anything 10ft and under ,use torpedo.... just my thoughts..

Remember, throw'em back unless ITZAKEEPER ....
