    Default Portable rod holder

Thought I would share a pic of the rod holder I built to store my rods in the garage. Made it out of 1x3 furring strips which you can buy at Lowes for less than $2 each. Used 1" pvc two-hole straps. Put a handle on it so I can carry it out to the boat when I'm loading up. It stands up beside the boat so I can drop the rods in it when I'm unloading. Next one I make I'll just use 1-1/4" pvc all the way around like I did on the ends. This was the prototype. Holds 14 rods. Horizontal pieces are 24" long verticals are about 18". The feet are 12" long. I wanted something portable that I could carry on camping trips when I have to unload the rods to take the kids tubing behind the boat. Let me know if you got suggestions for improving the next model.

That is a good looking rack there, MCF. I just made up a parts list using your thread to build one myself. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Looks great to me...only thing maybe I would add to it would be a solid bottom under the rods that I could put my tacklebox on.

Nice looking rod rack. Is that your tow vehicle there in the background? :D

Yup. Zero emissions, eco-friendly. Have to fight my kids to use it though. :D
