    Default Trolling motor question

Trying to figure out what kind of trolling motor to get. I would like opinions advice. Transom or bow mount, hand control or foot control? Academy has a good deal on a hand control bow mount. Actually they have good deals on about everything, but anyways any advice would be appreciated.

Just wanted to note that I've had the boat for less than a week and I've already cut myself with fireline, stabbed myself with hooks, and had 4 fish in the boat. I've also had the time of my life!

Whatever you decide on just keep in mind it is much easier to control a boat with it mounted on the bow. BTW, welcome aboard from Va.

CrappieMatt, yes if you can mount it on the bow of the boat.

Front mont is the way to go. Sounds like you are enjoying the new boat!! Maybe you can ask santa to bring you a trolling motor??

If you are going to spider rig and troll, I would suggest one with auto/co pilot. They are worth their weight in gold when you don't have to worry with where your going. The wireless co-pilot is the sha-zizell.

Sounds like bow mount is a consensus. I may have to make a trip to the dealer and have the alumacraft trolling motor mount riveted on.

Or a battery, charger I think dad is 'giving' me his portable sonar. That helps although I'll probably go broke buying AA's.

Minn Kota is now owned by Humminbird. Take a look at the new I Pilot, It is going to change the way we troll again the way Auto Pilot did. GPS controlled instead of by compass.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

If it had bluetooth I'd be excited. Pretty soon Google will be running your trolling motor. I go fishing to get away from that stuff. I thought GPS was only accurate to about 30 feet though.
