Question Trolling for Striper on Lake Norman

My fishing buddy wants to troll for stripper on Lake Norman and I cannot help him. Does anyone troll for stripper on Lake Norman? If so what part of the lake would be best to start in. Do you use artificial or minnows? If minnows can you catch your own minnows and where would be a good place to catch them?
I think that is enough questions to start.
    Thanks

ok not much help but if you really want strippers you may want to try closer to Lake Wylie at a location ....say Wilkerson Blvd.

Friend may want to go the the striped bass club meeting there I think they are called the striper swipers or something like that.

99% of my freshwater fishing is striper trolling on Norman.

I rig an umbrella rig, five baits. Each one is a 2 ounce jig head and 6 inch chartreuse sassy shad.

Troll at 2 - 2.5 MPH and let out about 75 feet of line (I used 30lb braid). That fishes at 28 feet and is usually where norman stripers are feeding.

Troll any where there is deep water and work the channel edges.

Other than umbrella rigs, grab a #1 planer and put on a horsehead bucktail with a chartreuse trailer. Tie it 40 feet behind the planer, same trolling speed. Or, try a Tony Acetta pet spoon behind the planer.

Stretch 25's work sometimes, smaller deep diving plugs work pretty well too.

a rather boring, redundant fishing method that seems to draw the yankees and charlotters in, but ask Pete....he seems to like to do it, my days of that are over.....to put it bluntly lol

Sorry for the not getting the spelling correct. It should have been "Trolling for Striper on Lake Norman". I can understand your problem.

i dont ever troll artificial on norman....just dont have much luck with it.

i live bait and do pretty well most of the times. catching bait is tough and i never count on it. i havent kept track of the striper since halloween, but right now id say you can catch some striper at the mouth of any creek mid and uplake, and up towards the islands.
if at first you dont succeed............drink another beer
    Gotta go.......FISH ON !!
I only fish on days that end in"Y"

I can't blame ya there. My comment was on the rude side and I appologize. Striper fishermen for the most part I put in the same class as those guys that buzz by you at 65mph in a Ranger about 30yds away.......but I understand what you mean by Uncle Arther as I broke my hand back in college and never had it checked out. Just lived with a baseball sized black and blue hand for a couple weeks. Some days Uncle Arther comes to visit me, and I know he generally likes the company of older folks, not young bucks like myself but he still comes knocking occasionally.
