I had to order a splitter cable (Y-cable) from humminbird and run 2 transducers--one on the stern and one shooting thru the hull. One on the stern (SI) comes out of the water at speed. The one in the hull maintains bottom depth when i'm going fast.

    Your transducer is too high.

The bottom of the transducer should be set to just under the bottom of the boat.

What is happening is your ducer is too high, so the bubbles caused by the hull going through the water are blocking the signal from the ducer.

Try lowering it before you do anything else and you should see a nice improvement in results

One other option is that there is a booger on your hull, a scuff or scratch just in front of the 'ducer that is causing bubbles to form. If you think the 'ducer is well in the water at speed, check the hull for boogers.
