well the turney season is over for us and the fish-off a thing of the past. we pre-fished friday and boy did this front have them stuck tight to the cover. we probably didn't catch 15 fish in 6 hours. we tried a few creeks up river and then headed back down to the main body. couple here and there. we were pretty sure we weren't going to do well sat. we took a chance on a spot we hadn't fish in over a week and stuck it out through the wind, rain, catfish, stripers, and gret big old green carp. our 7.75 six fish total was enough to sneak us in just above second. as usual newkid caught the big fish of the day, and we were lucky enough to win that as well. what surprised me was the water depth we caught our fish in. 4-8ft. color was a constant experiment and green/chart, black/chart worked best for me. thanks to newkid for having me and all the gang in the north carolina crappie association(yadkin enterprises tournament division). fishing out of that ranger when ya have an aluminum triton budget.....well it ain't good on a poor boy....:D
I fished today for stripers and couldn't buy a bite and ya'll go out and catch them on accident. Any hints as to where you found them at?????
Congrats!
congrats simple....now pass some of that "learned" pro crappie tips on to all your friends.
congrats
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Way to go there fellow, if you caught them any ware yesterday you are a tough contender. See ya around TT some time.
Luv to feel that thump!:D
i'll do just that poppop. i wondered when i started how much difference there would be fishing with these "pro's" verses how us weekend warriors go at it. the first thing i realized was, they fish the same way. some pre-fish and head out to a spot that produced the day before, while others count on past fishing trips to guide them to the fish. they have years of knowledge to fall back on and countless hours on the water. equipment for the most part is top of the line. great electronics and they know how to use it. they go when i think its just to windy or way to cold. some fish several trails a year. they travel to different states usually on their dollar. one of the big factors is that they target big fish. they only need six or eight depending on who's turney they are fishing. sort of comes down to this, are you willing to fish in all weather conditions, at any lake, for quality rather than quanity, rig your boat with the best stuff available or you can afford, move to six or eight locations in 5 hours trying to find the big ones, or have the disipline to stick it out knowing there places you could load the boat but are waiting on those few selesct slabs that will tip the scales. oh and most of them have a ball doing it. i've never caught or seen caught the amount of big fish these folks bring to the scales, but i was a rookie on a team with a veteran, and we won a few. i don't think i made the difference, do you.:D there are no secrets to tournament crappie fishing, a few spots maybe, but it seems to me its just like anything else, the more ya work at it the better you get. just my simple two cents.
