sputter at idle
my 120 Johnson does that to sometimes, start, restart, I think its a air leak in the fuel line or maybe carbs setting off a tat:D

Looks good, got a low profile look to it. Probably handle well in a wind. Look out slabs!

Congrats on your boat Jim!

go by the boat dealership and pick a can of their spray carb cleaner, the one with the decarbonizer in it. if its a carbuerated model youre in luck. the johnsons and evinrudes have removable plugs on them, on the left sides of carbs. screw them out and spray heavy in there. also remove the other little plug you see and spray the jets. let em soak for 1/2 hr or so then crank up on water hose and let idle a while. it will run a little rough then smooth out. finally remove the air intake screens and spray the venturis and inside of carbs good. only works on models with carbs. this is good stuff, not cheap walmart crap, about 12.00 a can, but it cures a lot of idle problems. and go online and buy a cd for that model, about 9.00 on ebay. its a lot harder to clean if its fuel injected, but with the cd to help you , you can do it.then ck your plugs cause the decarbonizer will sometimes foul them out. if its an etec dont touch it, go to very good boat mechanic.

NICE BOAT!!! I'd love to have something like that for duck hunting the lakes and more rod holders than horse power. Should make a killer crappie machine.

FishCrazy, that is one nice boat. Me thinks you are really going to drive the Crappie crazy. It should rig out nicely. If it were mine I would put a Minn-Kota Riptide ST with co-pilot. It can be had with 55 lbs of thrust, but with this boat I would opt for the 80 lb with at least the 54" shaft. For rod holders you ought to go to ProAnglerTackle.com and check out their Bee-Ready rod holders. I put 2 sets of 3 on the front and the back of the Skiff and I really love their ease of use. The adjustable model is a pleaure to use. They can be used to long line troll ( with alittle positive angle) or can be adjusted to keep the rod tip just above the water surface (about 6 inches) when tightlining with just the turn of a screw.
As for the idling problem, the mechanics thread on the main forum does have a chart with troubleshooting ideas that may prove helpful. I printed it off for my cousin and it helped him out with a similar problem that he was having with his Yamaha outboard.
Congrats and happy fishing,
Kellog
