As in the main forum, I thought it would be nice to have a thread to post things outside of fishing.

Here's a pic of my biggest 'punkin' this season. It was grown in my Wake County front yard. According to the tape measure, the larger one weighs around 250 lbs and the little guy is about 150 lbs. Someone get the pie crust.

The summer bulb season is winding down. Here a few of my pictures from the research beds.

Top: Zephyranthes 'Pink Panther'
Middle: Lycoris shaanxiensis
Bottom left: Lycoris radiata
Bottom right: Allium 'Millenium'

They're all pretty easy to grow. They just need full sun and decent soil.

Is that 3rd flower only native to the Sandhills of NC?

NC Nat...Both Lycoris species are native to China and Japan but has naturalized in the Southeast US. Some Zephyranthes are native to the southeast US. The Allium pictured is a hybrid of unknown origin.

Here are a couple shots from work today...our assistant curator took a moment to display her creativity (using one of our finest worktrucks as her canvas). Someone suggested that it only needs a big red nose to be complete.

Default Unusual Bonsai

I saw this bonsai while touring a garden center in northern Delaware. Its owner pruned and trained the poison ivy to shape. He is crazy.
