Default My wife's new hobby....

has turned out to be pretty good for me. She started doing embroidering work for our little girls and I told her that she could use her new found skills to make me a fishing shirt. Well, the first shirts are hot off the press. The first one has my name with a crappie over it on the front, a striper on the back, a Bass Pro Shops patch on one sleeve, and my "corportate" sponsor on the other sleeve. I tell my brothers I'm advertising while I fill up the truck and boat with the company gas card. The second shirt is the same except a trout over my name instead of the crappie. The striper on the back is about 6" across. It would be much cheaper to use patches, but I think these turned out pretty neat. The crappie turned out better than the trout, but I am happy with both. Anyway, here are a couple pics.

I see'em. Looks good. Don't be upset but I'm not going to use your sponsor anytime soon.

LOL nc. I think I will also pass on the sponsors for a while yet I hope. Those are some fine works on the fish. The crappie and the striper are awsome. Your wife is good at that for sure!

Those are nice man, she did a good job. Had to laugh when I saw yur profession. After getting out of the service I went to college 1 yr on my GI Bill and my plan was to major in mortuary science and even had a verbal agreement with our local resident slabbers to intern. Alas, it was not to be. I soon became disenchanted with the prerequisite political science, English, etc., and wanted to get right into chemistry, anatomy, and such. Even worse, a herd of party animals had invaded my body and there was a Ramada Inn directly across from the college that put out free finger food at 11 A.M. daily weekdays
with a cooperating bartender who poured em stiff and served up 4 for every one he charged ya for. Ah....life was good. Plenty of female anatomy short courses but unfortunately no academic credits accompanied them. After 1 yr I decided classes were interfering with my drinking and did the sensible thing.

Oh, don't worry guys...I'm not offended. I came into this profession by default I guess. My dad is a pastor, so funerals were nothing unusual for us. My oldest brother started in the field first and my two other brothers followed out of high school. I was in air cargo and construction for 15 years out of high school and realized at 30 years old I didn't want to "work" the rest of my life. There is mental strain in dealing with death and making sure everything is done just like the family wants it, but it is the easiest "job" I've ever had. One piece of advise (and no I'm not soliciting your business), but if you will go ahead and pre-arrange your funeral plans it will make it so much easier for your wife/kids when the time comes. I can't adequately describe the difference between sitting with a family when everything is decided except the day/time of the service and sitting with a family where they have no clue as to what to do. I know it is a hard subject to think about, but it makes it a lot easier when you can decide to make the decisions than when your loved one is forced to make the decisions. Enough about this, if you have any questions pertaining to the subject don't hesitate to pm me for advice...it's free. I'll be glad to answer any questions you have.

Yes, my wife is very good at her new hobby. The trout didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but everything else was just what i wanted.

Mike,

Your wife did an awsome job! I can't imagine the work that went into designing and setting up the embroidery.

Mikefish,

I am Mike Owens (CrappieO) and my wife is your former teacher at Vandalia, Becky Owens. It was neat to discover who you were after seeing your posts on crappie.com for for a long time as only "Mikefish". I also dearly love to crappie fish although I don't get to go very often. I spend a lot of my time at Hanes-Lineberry on the weekends.

Your wife did a great job on the embroidery. I might want to have something done with a crappie on it sometime if she has time. You can send me more info at mikeowens718@hotmail.com.

Take care. Maybe we can wet a line sometime. I'll probably see you around the cemetery (above ground of course!)
