The time between we actually caught the fish and took the photos was about 8 hours. They were in the cooler so probably dehydrated some over their original weight. None of them however weighed more than six lbs. The 22 inchers were close to six when we caught them.

Compared to other lakes and salt water, lake norman stripers are notoriously skinny. The lake has issues with forage species.

Nonetheless, they taste just as good as anywhere else and are just as much fun to catch

I think there are also issues during the summer re: water depth wher it is cool enough for the stripers and depth bait fish are hanging around.

Question Nada on the stripers

Took my grandson last night. His first night fishing adventure. Well as you would have it, the stripers are gone somewhere. They are not at the dam or they are not biting. Didn't mark any fish and only had three pull downs. Caught a green carp trolling at 40 feet. Curious as why he was even in the area. About 2 lbs. Released him and pulled out about midnight with no fish in the cooler. Talked to couple guys at the landing who had trolled all evening and night and hadn't picked up a fish. Last week we couldn't keep the catfish off the line, last night nada...not one catfish. There were 12 boats on the water at 9PM and at midnight there were two. Us and one other. We left. Water temp was couple degrees warmer running near 89 to 90 in most areas near the dam and slightly lower couple hundred yards back.

Yep a full moon. I rather think too that the 3-5 inch rains in the mountains and foothills last week brought a lot of cold water in the catawba basin. Maybe the middle or upper ends of the lake cooled enough to be a magnet for the striper to head to. Don't know enough about the lake to head upstream at night so we stuck it out at the dam. Will be happy to learn that they are back.
