Default Lake Norman 8/8

Headed to Lake Norman this morning with my grandson Kevin. Got to Blythe Landing about 6:15 Am and headed out to the Dam area. Two boat were already there. We set up with the wind sock and drifted from the Shoal area toward the Dam five times. We caught three nice blues averaging 8Lbs with the largest at 10 lbs. Headed up to Beatty Ford landing area and trolled behind a boat that was already trolling and had hooked up with five striper. We trolled couple hours but didn't hook up. Went down to the point on the left heading to the shoal and Dam area and setup. Drifted around the point three times picked up four more blues and one small striper. Lost three other stripers near the boat. One had smoked my Penn 9 reel drag and backlashed it and broke 20lb line. I almost lost the reel and rod over the side when the backlash caught and jerked out. Nice fish but I didn't see him. Headed home about 2:30. Release all but three blues as we had a load in the two largest. Nice day on Norman except that it got sorta rough for drifting from 10AM till after noontime then it calmed down some. Pete I made it and the boat cranked on the first turn. Blythe Landing is nice but steep for loading my boat on my present trailer. (its a single axle 3000 lb capacity trailer and the boat weighs 2200lbs dry.) I bought the boat and trailer used from a guy in Salisbury. He was either to stingy to buy the right trailer or the boatdealer snookered him. I am getting a new trailer next week so that part will improve.

Sure did. Called Randy last night and he met me at the bait tank at 4:45AM this morning... Found out he gives a discount on 4 dozen. Cuts four dollars off the total on four dozen .. averages to 7 per dozen just one dollar above Jimmy and David on Murray.... He said he was up all night with Jimmy Jones taking in a new load of bait. Told me he had two more groups due in before 6 AM who were also headed to Norman. He didn't know who they were........
