Default MinnKota power drive / deployment made easy

If anyone using a MinnKota power drive is tired of having to struggle a little bit to deploy it into the water you need to check out the Georgia forum. There is a thread there showing how and where to make adjustments to make it much easier. I am going to adjust mine in the morning. If it works I won't have to spray Reel-Magic on the cradle to slicken it up anymore.

Thanks Kellog, I went right out and adjusted mine and wiped the shaft down with the armor all. Instant change. Hopefully will check it on the water tomorrow.

Well I did the same as Poorman. Going to Jordan tonight. Hope we don't have 3 stories tomorrow about trolling motors jumping off while cruising down the lake.......

That was my first concern olefisher...But after looking at it, as long as the latch is in front of the "collar or nut", I dont see any way it can go anywhere unless the release handle is pressed. The Minn Kota tech agreed with me on that, but for cheap insurance and peace of mind, I am going to put a velcro strap in the front of my boat and strap it down while the boat is in motion. I honestly do not think I need to, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Actually, the tech I talked to recommended that the top adjustment collar that you set for the depth of the motor should be moved all the way down every time the boat is in motion, but I dont think most of us is gonna move that every time we move from place to place. Velcro strap much easier...Let us know how you like it on the water.

Just wandering if everything worked out OK with the adjustments on the TM...I have not had a chance to put mine in the water since making the adjustment on my TM.
