Default Jordan Dam 4/4/08

I'm going out to Jordan Dam tomorrow morning to catch some crappie. I haven't been here in years and never in early April. I have some minnows left over from Wednesday night at Bells on Jordan, but I plan on using gigs on a cork off the wall on the opposite side of the parking lot. I'm thinking about grabbing some rooster tails from Jordan Dam Mini Mart in case the white bass are in there.

Has anybody been here lately or know what to expect here in early April?

Good luck, y'all.

I'd try trolling the back of Beaver Creek.

If the water is running right you got good chances of finding those striper. I wouldnt hesitate to risk loosing some tackle to catch a few. Ive seen many caught there. If you can cast net some shad there at the dam then let them free line below a cork at about 5 - 6 foot deep and drift down the river. Or try some of the likely lures. Rattle trap or spook or bucktail. Good luck and let us know with pictures.

KEVB, good luck. In past years I've caught some nice white bass out of Jordan dam spillway when the water wasn't so high. Like Fishcrazy said, expect to lose some tackle. There's so many snags there. It's still worth to hang a striper. I like that concrete pier as long as it's not real crowded.

Default Oh Boy!

I had a ball this morning! We started out on the left side of the damn in the Haw River/Jordan Lake side. We were fishing along the concrete structure under the bridge. Not a nibble, so we packed up and went to the spillway. We were on the other side of the spillway fishing off the rocks in the calm water and the crappie were on. Everybody who was fishing was catching. We didn't catch that many, but the size of the 10 we brought home made up for the lack of quantity. We caught some nice catfish, small white bass, and a decent large mouth. I'm getting ready to go back out there.

Oh, I was using minnows and jigs on a cork. They were about 2 1/2 feet deep.
